Alex & Roberta - Villa Castelletti, Florence, Italy (Photo & Video)

[PAUL] - Where do I start with these two? I met Roberta at Henrik & Malin’s wedding a few months prior whilst getting set up on the dance floor to shoot their first dance. Roberta flossed her way over to me and asked, “Do you shoot weddings abroad?”. Obviously I couldn’t say yes quick enough!

Fast forward a few months and there we were, rolling around Florence in our beast of a hire car (a 1 litre Lancia Ypsilon), desperately trying not to lose our deposit, on the way to meet up with Alex and Roberta at their stunning venue, Villa Castelletti, located just outside the small town of Signa.

It’s always great to work with people that you’ve met at a previous wedding. Because of the nature of the job, you invest so much into the people around you that often you end up making friends. So when you see those people again, it’s just like catching up with an old school friend. When I walked into bridal prep everything was super relaxed and Roberta and her Bridesmaids were brimming with excitement and a bit of the same mischief that Roberta herself had been instigating at Henrik & Malin’s wedding.

Alex and his Groomsman were no different, just super cool and relaxed and looking forward to the day ahead.

From what I gather, the couple had a few spots within the grounds of the villa where they could’ve chosen to make their vows - I think the spot they decided on was perfect. At the far end of the grounds there’s a lake surrounded by trees that form a perfect natural aisle up to a floral arch. All Roberta and Alex had to do was add their favourite people and a few meaningful musical performances and they had a recipe for pure wedding gold. Those musical performances were provided by Alex’s brother, Christopher, who tickled the ivories and sang Roberta down the aisle. Alex’s former choir (yes, Alex was in a choir - more on that later) performed a stunning rendition of Jackie Wilson’s ‘Higher and Higher’ as the newlyweds walked back down the aisle together.

After a relaxed afternoon enjoying canapes in the Tuscan sun, the couple and their guests took their seats for an evening of great food, heartfelt toasts and even more stunning musical performances. The groom himself took to the mic first, with his brother, best man and mother all performing soon afterwards, before the choir then retook the stage and rounded off the evening with an amazing mash-up of 80’s power ballads and 90’s pop gold.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, so after grabbing some shots of the party (which I’m sure was still raging on as we were touching down in Gatwick in the early hours the next day!), we said our goodbyes and caught our flight home to blighty.

Alex & Roberta opted for the Full Day Coverage photo package and the Highlights Reel video package. For more info on our Destination Weddings click here.
